The Trump regime is targeting trans people on several fronts, including attempts to stop gender affirming care for trans youth.
Though anti-trans riders have successfully been kept off of funding bills in Congress, other attacks continue in the form of executive orders and threats to pull federal funding from any healthcare providers who offer gender affirming care for those under the age of 19.
This odd number indicates a desire to eventually target gender affirming care for all adults as well.
Other local organizations, including but not limited to ACT UP PGH, have been protesting against UPMC, who have ‘pre-complied’ by cutting off gender affirming care to trans youth, as well as organizing for an alternative care model based on public clinics.
Pittsburgh DSA will join in these efforts by:
Coordinating a pressure campaign against UPMC demanding the restoration of care for trans youth
Pressuring other institutions to divest from UPMC
Building public consensus around new public clinics for trans youth
Providing education in collaboration with local trans-centered organizations
Providing aid to local organizations supporting trans youth in the form of a volunteer labor brigade and/or fundraising
